Recently, Building 91 at the Jeffersonville Census Bureau became Santa’s workshop. Bureau employees kicked off an early holiday shopping spree with their annual auction for the WHAS Crusade for Children by dedicating this year’s effort to one of their own, Paul Dean.

For the 24th straight year, employees at the Census Bureau put together baskets, trees, even an outhouse for their annual auction. It gave bidders a chance to get an early jump on the season of giving with a night of caring and remembering Paul Dean.

Hazel Heim, a “Census Crusader” said, “As a tribute to Paul we’ve got an IU rocker ‘cause Paul was an avid Indiana University fan and a teddy bear along with 2 tickets to an IU ballgame.”

With the total from this year’s auction the Crusaders from the Census Bureau expect to bring their grand total to more than $180,000 and counting that includes over $300 for the outhouse.
