State employees show generosity

In spite of a weak economy and furlough days Kentucky state employees showed surprising generosity today.

“Through the Kentucky Employees Charitable Campaign, you have really gone above and beyond the call of duty,” said Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear.

At a special meeting in Frankfort on Thursday, November 4th, state employees unveiled nearly $1.2 million gift to six statewide charities.

KECC Administrator Terry Tolan said, “Even in a year where things are as challenging economically as they are this year, state employees continue to demonstrate their generous support of others throughout the Commonwealth.”

7,500 state employees gave $150 each on average. Over $100,000of that million dollar total will go to the WHAS Crusade for Children.
