Sons of Crusade co-founder stop in to say hi

Having grown up in Louisville, brothers Vic, Dave and Bob have a lot of fond memories. Back in town to celebrate the 100th anniversary of their father’s birth, they made a special point to visit the offices of the WHAS Crusade for Children.

Their dad Vic Sholis, was the General Manager of the WHAS-TV/radio combo from 1947 to 1970 and one of the founding fathers of the WHAS Crusade for Children.

“About three years ago, we put together a plan to reunite in Louisville on the 100th anniversary of our dad’s birthday,” said Vic Sholis, Jr.

So Vic, Jr., of Glenview, Illinois; Bob of Columbus, Ohio; and Dave from San Diego, Calfornia converged on Louisville and stopped by the Crusade offices on Friday, June 11, 2010. They took a trip down memory lane walking around the familiar surroundings they remembered from childhood.

They had many stories to tell and were pleased that the Crusade continues on with many of the same time-honored traditions.

Vic, Jr. said their dad, who retired from WHAS in 1975 and passed away in 1990, “Would be so pleased to see that the Crusade is as strong as ever, he’d be proud.”

In memory of their dad, the Sholis brothers purchased a brick on the Crusade for Children Walk of Fame.
