“This is so exciting, I tell you what!” That’s what Joyce Greenwell said about this challenging project.

Joyce Greenwell is happy to be sorting through emblems from fire departments that collect donations for the Crusade. From these patches Joyce is creating a Crusade quilt which she plans to have finished in time for the next Crusade.

“I was reading in the newspaper in the Courier about the Crusade. It needs more input and so more money because times were hard. And so I thought if I had the emblems I could make them a quilt,” Joyce said.

Joyce plans to raffle off the quilt beginning the Saturday of the next Crusade in 2010. She says she needs more fire department emblems especially from her home area of Nelson County.
