Chaney’s Dairy Barn event benefits the Crusade (video 1)
Fans of country music packed Chaney’s Dairy Barn in Bowling Green to hear a trio of Nashville songwriters and to raise money for the WHAS Crusade for Children. WBKO-TV’s Chris Allen hosted the event which featured songwriters Daniel Modlin, Jeff Pearson and Pat Haney. Crusade CEO Dawn Lee was on hand to welcome music lovers and to introduce children from Lincoln Elementary who are benefitting from Crusade grants. One of those children in Ms. Hatfield’s class actually was brave enough to perform for the crowd. Bailey Allen stood before the microphone and offered her version of Hannah Montana’s “The Best of Both World’s”. Bailey received an ovation for her efforts. With the help of songwriter Daniel Modlin and the generosity of the Chaney family this inaugural event for the Crusade raised several hundred dollars which will continue to help children with special needs in the Bowling Green area.

The Crusade Endowment fully funds the Crusade’s future. The Endowment allows the Crusade to continute granting 100% of donations collected on Crusade weekend. While there Shawn was treated to a performance by “The Miracle Dancers” from the Diane Moore Dance Academy. The “Miracles” repeated their heart-warming dance to the song Defying Gravity from the Broadway musical Wicked. “Mayor of Mantown” challenge helps Crusade
WQXE radio in Elizabethtown morning host Greg Milby and afternoon drive time DJ Paul Leidy squared off in a firefighter challenge. Central Hardin and Valley Fire Departments hosted the “Mayor of Mantown” event to benefit the WHAS Crusade for Children. It’s all in fun and preparation for the upcoming 56th annual WHAS Crusade for Children on June 6 – 7, 2009 to benefit children with special needs.
