Crusade Holiday Card 2013 550

Dear Crusade friend :

The most rewarding part of the WHAS Crusade for Children is hearing the life-changing stories from children and families who are helped. None of this would be possible without you. Megan, David, Tabitha, Ahmed and Jaiden are Crusade angels. They are students at Visually Impaired Pre-School (VIPS) and they are actual children who YOU helped this past year.

These are just five of the amazing Crusade children who have been helped this past year as a result of your contributions. Thanks to you, teachers and equipment were provided to VIPS in Louisville, Lexington and Bloomington. In addition to the five angels from VIPS, thousands of other children who have special needs also received the assistance they needed.

This year, your generosity allowed the Crusade to award grants to nearly 200 agencies that help children with special needs across the state of Kentucky and Southern Indiana. We ask that this holiday season you remember the Crusade angels in our community and make a year-end contribution. There are many ways you can give. Our website, www.WHASCrusade.org, can provide you additional information on all of these programs:

> Send your check or charge information to the Crusade Office

> Join the Crusade Angel program through monthly automatic deductions

> Purchase a Walk of Fame brick in honor of that hard-to-buy for individual on your list

> Donate appreciated stock, life insurance policies or other non-cash property

> Consider including the Crusade in your will or through a bequest

The children served by the Crusade are truly an inspiration and heroes to all of us. Thank you for being a champion for these children. As you enter into the holidays, may your life be full of blessings.

Gratefully,

Dawn Lee

The IRA Charitable Rollover is also available until December 31, 2013. Individuals age 70 1/2 and older may make direct transfers up to $100,000 per year from individual retirement accounts (IRAs) to qualified charities (like the Crusade) without having to count the transfers as income for federal tax purposes The gifts do not qualify for a charitable deduction, but may be counted toward an individual’s required contribution. It’s easy! The Crusade can help you do it. Contact Dawn Lee at dawn@whascrusade.org or phone (502) 582-7706.

Make charitable gifts through your IRA. There is a provision that is often referred to as the “Qualified Charitable Distribution,” or charitable rollover. This provision allows IRA owners over age 70 1/2 to make charitable donations of up to $100,000 per year directly from IRAs without paying income tax. While you can’t take a charitable deduction for any gifts you make through your IRA, the money given will count toward that year’s RMD. It’s easy! The Crusade can help you do it.
