Your donations bring the joy of art

We often hear about the positive power of art in the lives of children. One art program which serves children with special needs is giving youngsters a whole new outlook on their lives…and it’s all thanks to your support of the WHAS Crusade for Children.

Presley Nash and her friends are taking part in “Side by Side”, an arts program you help to fund through the Crusade. “Side by Side” is a statewide effort by VSA Arts of Kentucky. It pairs children with special needs with artists from across the commonwealth.

Presley’s mother Staci says, “Since everybody has some kind of disability she (Presley) doesn’t feel singled out because she’s different, because they’re all different and they kind of celebrate all of their differences.”

The grant from the Crusade funds teachers and artists in six “Side by Side” programs across Kentucky.

This is the fifth year that Presley has taken part. Mom Staci says the program means more than drawing and painting to her young artist.

“It has really helped improve her confidence and recognizing that even though she is different that she’s still unique and special, that her differences don’t have to be a negative thing that they can be a positive thing.”
