Honor to Joe Huber helps Crusade

It was a hot sweltering day at the Joe Huber Family Farm and Restaurant in Starlight, Indiana on Sunday, August 16. But it was cool inside Barn 1 as The Marlins entertained a crowd of nearly 400 with the first Joe Huber Memorial Concert.

Proceeds benefitted the WHAS Crusade for Children. Visitors could donate to the Crusade via the Lafayette Township firefighters on hand or by purchasing engraved bricks to be placed in the Joe Huber Memorial Garden Path near the restaurants. Sales of bricks on the Garden Path support the WHAS Crusade Endowment.

Thank you Hubers…thank you Marlins…and thank you Joe for your endless support of the Crusade.

How the Crusade works

The WHAS Crusade for Children, Inc. established in 1954 by WHAS-TV, raises money for agencies, schools and hospitals to better the lives of special needs children.

$133 million raised for special needs children
In its first 56 years, the Crusade has raised more than $133 million. Thanks to generous contributions of goods and services, the Crusade is able to return 100 percent of all donations to organizations that serve special needs children in all 120 Kentucky counties and more than 50 southern Indiana counties. Fire departments raise more than 50 percent of the money each year by staging road blocks and other events.

Here are a few photos from the celebration!
